The Mason’s Honey Baked Apples
  • 3 Granny Smith or Pink Lady™ apples
  • 2 tbsp good quality honey
  • Water
This apple dessert recipe is a 100 year old recipe shared by a family of South Australian apple growers.
30-40 minutes


Pre heat over to 180c


  1. Cut the apples into halves vertically and remove the cores to form a cup shape.
  2. Place the apples in a roasting dish large enough to hold all six pieces.
  3. Place a teaspoon of honey in each apple half.
  4. Pour enough water around the base of the apples to come approximately 1-2 cm up the sides of the dish and bake for 30 – 40 minutes or until tender.
  5. Remove from the oven and leave to cool slightly. Serve with some of the baking juices and cream or ice cream.
