Baked Apples
  • 6 firm apples that will hold their shape such as a Granny Smith or Golden Delicious
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp plain flour
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ? cup sugar
  • ¼ cup walnuts, chopped
  • ½ cup water and orange juice mixture
Baked apples are a great apple dessert idea, served with cream or ice cream.

Preheat oven to 175°C


  1. Wash the apples; core then peel one narrow strip from around top edge.
  2. Place the apples in a deep baking dish.
  3. Fill centres with raisins.
  4. Combine the flour, sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or fork.
  6. Stir in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb mixture in the centre and over the apple.
  8. Pour water and orange juice over apples.
  9. Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour, basting occasionally.
  10. Serve these baked apples with cream or ice cream.
